Shin Waterfall: Hiroshi Senju’s Memories of Space-Time, Future, and Hope
Karuizawa Hiroshi Senju Museum 15th Anniversary Exhibition – World Premiere of New Works
From March 1 (Sun) to December 25 (Fri), 2026, the Karuizawa Hiroshi Senju Museum will host the special exhibition: “Shin Waterfall: Hiroshi Senju’s Memories of Space-Time, Future, and Hope.”
As we celebrate our 15th anniversary in 2026, we honor the journey of Hiroshi Senju, a world-renowned Nihonga painter whose artistic evolution has grown alongside our museum’s history.
In the autumn of 2025, Senju visited the famous Shiraito Falls in Karuizawa. The inspiration and profound emotion he experienced there culminated in his latest masterpiece, “Waterfall on Colors: Shiraito Falls.” This vibrant depiction of the falls captures the vital energy of flowing water, the presence of sunlight, and a powerful sense of future and hope.
Centered around this new release, the exhibition features Senju’s signature landscapes—including his “Waterfall,” “Cliff,” and “Forest” series—offering visitors a moment of beauty so moving it may bring tears to one’s eyes.
Additionally, our gallery will feature a variety of curated exhibitions throughout the seasons. We warmly invite you to visit the Karuizawa Hiroshi Senju Museum in 2026. Our entire staff looks forward to welcoming visitors from across the country and the world.
